Wacam Engages Earmarked Mining ,Oil and Gas Communities

Wacam, with support from Trust Africa, organised a three-day workshop at Adwenpa Hotel Busunya from the 15th to 18th July 2019 for earmarked mining, oil and gas communities in the Nkoranza North and South Districts. The training focused on the need to protect the farmlands and livelihoods of these communities.

Mrs Hannah Owusu-Koranteng, Associate Executive Director, led the discussions on the overview of human rights violations in mining communities, managing communities’ expectations on oil and gas as well as the benefits of standing forests in Ghana. Mr Samuel Obiri also elaborated on the environmental and health effects associated with onshore oil and gas exploitation and review of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of onshore gas projects in the Voltaian and Keta Basin
